To ensure fairness to all our clients we have implemented guidelines for late arrivals.

  • Arrivals 5-15 minutes late will be treated as a work-in appointment (if our schedule allows), which may result in a late arrival fee.
  • Arrivals more than 15 minutes late will need to reschedule the appointment. A rescheduling fee may apply and must be paid prior to booking the new appointment.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to provide timely care to all our patients.

Am I required to have my pet vaccinated for Rabies?

Your pet is required by Texas state law to be vaccinated against rabies. This law is in place to protect human, public and animal health, including the health of wildlife.

Rabies is a fatal viral disease that is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted to humans. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal and vaccination is the only effective form of prevention.

Also, if an unvaccinated pet bites or scratches someone, even if done on accident, the animal may be subject to stick quarantine that can be costly or euthanasia, depending on local regulations and the situation.

Protecting your pet, your family, and your community by making sure your pet is up to date on their Rabies vaccination is the most responsible thing you can do and one of the best ways to show love and protection.

Is a Heartworm Test required to fill preventatives?

Yes, an annual heartworm test is required before prescribing or continuing heartworm prevention and here’s why:

  • Safety First

If a pet is already infected with heartworms, giving them certain preventative medication can cause severe reactions.

  • Prevent Disease Progression

Heartworm disease can progress silently for months before symptoms appear. Testing catches infections early, allowing treatment before serious damage is done to the heart, lungs, and in other organs.

  • Effectiveness of Prevention

Even if your pet has been on regular prevention, no product is 100% foolproof. A missed dose, vomiting a pill, or incorrect administration can leave a window of vulnerability. Annual testing ensures the prevention is working.

  • Required by Product Manufacturers

Most heartworm preventative manufacturers require a negative heartworm test before use to guarantee product safety and effectiveness. Not following this guideline may also void any guarantees or financial assistance they offer.

  • Legal and Ethical Responsibility

Veterinarians are bound by their medical license to follow best practices and safety protocols. Prescribing heartworm prevention without a test could be considered negligent or dangerous.

Why do you recommend purchasing pet products and medications in clinic versus from an outside pharmacy?

We recommend purchasing pet products and medications directly from our clinic to ensure your pet receives safe, effective, and properly dosed treatments.

  1. Quality and Safety

Our products come directly from trusted, handpicked manufactures who adhere to stick handling and storage standards. This ensures the medication is authentic and hasn’t been compromised by shipping or storage factors.

In the event of a manufacture recall, we can immediately generate a report using our medical software to identify all affected patients, we can then proactively contact and inform pet owners. We can also provide effective alternatives to ensure continuous care.

  1. Manufacture Warranties and Support

Many manufactures only honor product guarantees and support if the product was purchased through a licensed veterinary clinic. This can be especially important for things like flea, tick and heartworm preventatives.

  1. Correct Product and Dosage

We tailor recommendations specifically for your pet’s age, weight, health conditions and lifestyle. We are also familiar with the medical history and have access to their complete medial record. This minimizes the risk of error and ensures your pet is getting exactly what they need.

  1. Immediate Availability and Convenience

You can leave your appointment with everything your pet needs. There is no waiting, no shipping delays, and no worries about substitutions.

  1. Veterinary Oversight

Our team is here to answer questions, monitor for side effects, and make adjustments as needed. This level of personalized care is hard to get from third-party pharmacies.
